Obituary of Esther Stout

Esther H Stout, of Lockport, NY, loving wife and mother passed away Sunday March 8, 2009. Esther was born January 2,1926 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of the late William N and Ruth 0 Howard. She graduated from Glens Falls, NY High School and attended Green Mountain Junior College, Poultney, VT. During WWII she worked as a secretary for the Glens Falls Insurance Company. On February 23, 1946 Esther married Frank M Stout, Jr. who had just retired from active military service in WWII .
In 1960 Esther, Frank and their 4 children moved to Lockport. Esther
rejoined the work force in 1969 as Manager and Buyer for Korff's Gift
Court on the corner of Walnut and Pine St. After 14 years Esther and daughter Laura acquired the business and operated as The Gift Court for 8 years. As a long time member of the Modem Mothers Club she thoroughly enjoyed the friendships and good times shared with club members. Esther's hobbies included gardening, decorating, reading, needlework, and her day was not complete without a crossword puzzle or two.
She is survived by her husband Frank and children William of Madison Heights, VA, Deborah (Jean Pierre) Francescutti of Wilson. Laura (Keith) Schessl of Wilson, her brother, Dr John Howard of San Diego, CA; 4 grandchildren Anthony and Nicholas Francescutti and Tracey (Morgan) Curtice and Jeffrey Murray, and two great grandchildren Alec and Noah Curtice. She is predeceased by her daughter Carolyn Murray (George). Esther's main interest in life was her family and her home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years.
Friends may call at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesse St,
Lockport, Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Private funeral services will be held with the Rev William James Hardy officiating.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094
