Obituary of Alan Rietz

Alan David Rietz, of Sanborn, NY, entered into rest, Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born January 21, 1942 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late William and Ruth Rietz.
Alan retired from Delphi Thermal Systems after 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 until 1966 as an auto mechanic. Alan was active in antique automobiles serving recently as membership secretary of the local region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. He was also a member of the AACA and the 1965-1966 Full Size Chevrolet Club. Alan loved socializing at local cruise nights displaying his collector cars. He enjoyed spending time with family and was a devoted husband and father.
Beloved husband of Adele Sharon (Ferris) Rietz, Loving father of David Iovieno and Renee (Butler)Iovieno, . Cherished Grandfather of Courtney, Cody and Carson Butler. Son-in-Law of Donald F. Ferris and the late MaryAnn Ferris. Alan was the brother-in-law of Donald(Joanne)Ferris Jr., David (Michelle) Ferrazzi and Roberta Laskowski. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Alan will be sadly missed by family and friends. He will also be missed by his faithful dogs, Cookie and Cocoa who spent many hours by his bedside comforting him.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. Where prayers will be offered Friday morning at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will to be celebrated on Friday at 10AM, in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Internment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan's name to Niagara Hospice or Save-A-Pet would be greatly appreciated by the family. Friday morning at 9:30 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will to be celebrated on Friday at 10AM, in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.

Internment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
