Lessons We Can Learn From Stephen - a smile can brighten a day for others - it’s important to take time to dance - pink and purple are beautiful colors - small gifts of kindness can mean everything - a day with no homework is a day to celebrate - make simple moments important - a classroom full of children are a family - friendship is a gift we can give everyone - math and drawing aren’t for everyone - our school is made up of children first and students second - charm and personality should be a category on all report cards Stephen sparkled as brightly as any gem. Our school, our class, and our family will miss him greatly. Lauren Igo Grade 6 2010

Stephen was always smiling. I wonder if he knew something that the rest of us didn't. He made a positive impact on many. He will be missed.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Petroci, I am deeply saddened by your loss. Even with all of these heart-felt messages, you will never truly know the impact that your little boy had on the Starpoint family. Stephen and I worked together a lot last year in Mrs. Ott's class; he was a little ray of sunshine in a not so sunny world. Stephen had a caring heart and always showed concern for others. He and I had a long-time running joke where, whenever we would see eachother in the hallway we'd say, "Hey, Trouble!" I'm really going to miss that! :) My thoughts and prayers are with all who were touched by Stephen. Even if only in some small way, those small ways sometimes end up meaning the most.

Stephen, In the few weeks that I was your teacher this year, you certainly touched my life. I am glad I was able to see you and catch up when I visited the classroom this year and so glad that you were able to meet my two children. I hope they grow up to be kind, loving, and happy children, just like you. You will surely be missed.

I will always remember the last day I saw you at school.. When I was teaching for Mrs. Naylor you were truly disappointed because we were watching the Beauty and the Beast movie and you said "awww I thought that we were going to dance in class again today?" When I saw you getting on the bus that day.. I said "Stephen, have a good night and no dancing on the bus" you laughed and we smiled at each other. I will cherish that smile as that was the last time I saw you. Stephen, I hope you are dancing in heaven!! God Bless your family. It was a blessing to have known you!

Joseph and Linda- I am so sorry for your loss. Stephen was in my classes last year and in my cafeteria this year. I would like you to know some of the things about Steven I remember. He always would give me high fives and "hi's" in the hallway. I loved when he would sing and dance in his wheelchair. He always put smiles on everyone's faces and cheered them up when they were down. Once again, I am truly sorry for your loss. He will always be remembered and missed. Sincerely, Gabby Greiner

I had the pleasure of knowing Stephen in the cafeteria at Fricano School where I work. He was really a very sweet little boy. He used to love when I gave him a back massage after he ate his lunch. Stephen always had a smile on his face and I loved that he talked to me as if he were an adult. He was so smart and he had a great sense of humor. When he would tell me about all the medical procedures he would be going through, he was so matter of fact about it. In the years that I had Stephen I don't think I ever saw him sad. It's really amazing considering the health burdens he carried with him from day to day. It's because of children like your son that I'm still a lunch monitor after 12 years. I love each and every one of them but I will always have a special place in my heart for your son.
