Obituary of Edith (Hartfiel) Ranney

Edith Martha Elsie (Hartfiel) Ranney went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2011. Born in Lockport on September 22, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Frank F. and Edelina (nee Teske) Hartfiel. Predeceased in 1989 by her loving husband of 49 years Wayne LaVern Ranney.
Edith is survived by her children, Alice J. Ranney of East Amherst, Wayne D. (Donna) Ranney of Lockport, and Dawn M. (Jeff) Morrell of Middleport; her grandchildren Shawn D. (Francesca) Smiley of South Carolina, Ryan A. Smiley of Lockport, Alyssa L. (Brian) Michalak of Middleport, and Travis J. Ranney of Lockport; sister of Martha Enzinna and the late Hattie Higgins, Agnes Witkop, Gertrude Bennage, Lena Hartfiel, and Mabel Verheyn, Fred, Otto, William, Frank, and Walter Hartfiel; sister-in-law of Betty Ranney Kinyon; many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Most of all she loved her family, and cherished spending time with all of them. Edith was a devoted wife and mother, having helped on the family dairy farm including being the bookkeeper. She was a member of the Lockport First Baptist Church, and dearly loved her Lord.
Relatives and friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church, 140 Genesee St., Lockport. Interment will be in Huskey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, The Lockport First Baptist Church, or charity of your choice. Please visit www.pruddenandkandt.com to leave a condolence.
